GET BRIGHTER, EVEN-TONED SKIN WITH THE DR.JART+ CICAPAIR RE-COVER
AKA TIGER GRASS COLOUR CORRECTING TREATMENT
AMY DANG on JULY 27, 2020
It’s 2020 and this girl is finally trying Dr.Jart+. I know, I know, I am late to the bandwagon as usual. Perhaps like some of you, I was initially introduced to the brand through its really creepy looking baby face masks. While the packaging lowkey freaked me out, the brand had definitely piqued my interest. Since then, Dr. Jart+ has chosen a more minimalist approach to its packaging and has become widely recognizable across beauty stores in Korea. Today, I’ll be sharing my review of the Dr.Jart+ Cicapair Re-Cover, which is also known/rebranded(?) as Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment in certain countries.
The Cicapair Re-Cover cream colour corrects uneven skin and reduces redness in order to give your skin a brighter appearance. Formulated with tiger grass, also known as centella asiatica, it also soothes irritation and protects sensitive skin from harmful environmental aggressors. Thanks to the power of chemistry, the green coloured treatment slowly fades into a more neutral shade to match your skin tone. Bonus point: the cream has SPF30/40 protection from UV light.
Slightly citrusy and herbal, the Cicapair Re-Cover cream’s scent is very light and barely noticeable. It has a hint of lavender to it, which is quite pleasant and pairs well with the cream’s soothing effect. I had to double check the smell, that’s how subtle it was!
Texture-wise, the Cicapair Re-Cover cream is quite thick. I worried it would feel very dense on my skin, but was surprisingly pleased when it didn’t. You actually don’t need much product to cover your entire face, which is why it feels fairly light after application. Speaking of the application, the first time I tried it on, I made the mistake of slathering on and basically “wiping” the cream like I would for my usual skincare creams. But boy, did that blend awfully and look horrible. Make sure to dab it on carefully and gently tap the product onto your skin. This way, it’ll blend much better!
In terms of results and as expected, my skin looked very pale and slightly greenish immediately after application. But as time went on, the product slowly “adapted” to my skin tone and became more nude and natural looking. It’s actually quite fascinating to see how the cream slowly color corrects and covers the redder areas of my face. My skin looked more even, matte and brighter…definitely pleased!
I will say that my skin was still visibly a shade lighter than it usually is. Not a big surprise considering this is what Koreans prefer…just beware if this is something you don’t like. I also want to mention that if you have flaky or dry skin, this cream will enhance those areas even more. So make sure to exfoliate the night before or try to remove as much of the flaky/dry skin as possible, otherwise it’ll be very much visible post-application.
1: no makeup (it’s hard to tell because of the lighting, but my skin is usually red around the nose, cheeks and T-zone) / 2: with cicapair cream / 3: full face of makeup / 4: after exercising
I’ve worn the Cicapair Re-Cover cream in the scorching 30+ degree heat, as well as during exercise. The result? Quite alright! After a full day of wear, the product definitely lightened and started to fade. But it was not noticeable enough for me to care. It will obviously melt a little if you’re sweating up a storm like I do (lol). So it all depends how (un)bothered you are with re-applying! FYI, I’ve always worn the cream by itself. However, I’ve read that you can wear this as a primer and apply your foundation, concealer or powder over it for a more complete makeup look.
Centella asiatica is a well-known ingredient amongst skincare aficionados for both its healing and protective qualities. When paired with herbs complex and minerals solution, the cream also helps to enhance the skin’s viability and strength, as well as soothe and restore moisture to provide a healthier appearance. The raspberry leaf extract also reduces the look of inflammation, ultimately making this cream a powerful colour correcting treatment.

It’s rare that I have so much to say, but the Dr.Jart+ Cicapair Re-Cover cream really impressed me. I was curious and slightly skeptical at first, but it really did deliver on its promise. It does have its minor faults (and I certainly question whether it matches every skin tone), but overall I am super pleased with the results. My skin looks even-toned with a wonderful glow, and that’s all I could ever ask for! If you’ve struggled with redness and uneven skin, I’d highly recommend trying this out.
