REVIEW: ISNTREE SPOT SAVER

MUGWORT POWDER WASH

The powder cleanser to reach for when your skin, and acne, needs some saving.

KAYLA ALLARD on NOVEMBER 8, 2019

I love mugwort. I absolutely love mugwort. It’s hands down my favorite ingredient and a lot of products I purchase tend to have mugwort in them. As an acne-prone girl, mugwort really helps to soothe my acne and help with the whole recovery process. Back in August, Beautchat held their annual event. Inside the gift bags was the Isntree Spot Saver Mugwort Powder Wash. Coming off a success with the Cosrx Low pH Cleansing Powder, I was really excited to try these out!

The Spot Saver Mugwort Powder Wash is a powder enzyme cleanser that “removes keratin and cleanses deeply by synergy of Papain enzyme + sea salt+ Mugwort leaf powder” (Isntree). It comes with 25 individually packaged cleansers in a paper-like pouch. It retails for around $25 when on sale on Jolse.

These are some of the ingredients that are included in this cleanser.

EXPERIENCE

The cleanser packet has a generous amount of powder inside. I realized that half of the powder was perfect for one wash, meaning I was able to get 2 washes per packet. I’ve been on a few overnight trips since then and have brought these with me each time. I find them super convenient and easy to toss into my bag. And knowing that I can get 2 uses from 1 packet means I don’t have to pack as much!

I like that there’s a mild exfoliating aspect to the powder. The powder has a grainy texture to it even when mixed with water. But it’s pretty gentle. However, if you are sensitive to any type of scrub, I suggest using a silicone brush or any cleansing brush, as this helps dull the scrub feel. At times, I do find this to be slightly drying. Isntree states that this has a pH of 5.5-6.5. They do mention that it is slightly acidic which is to ensure that a mild cleanse occurs.

I think this cleanser is great because I can tell it really gives my face a nice cleanse but also targets my acne by calming them down, thanks to the blessed mugwort. It’s a great first step! I know Isntree has more mugwort products, so I’m definitely going to have to try those out!
