KBEAUTY ON A BUDGET: SPOT TREATMENTS
KAYLA ALLARD on MARCH 17, 2020
Zits suck. There’s not a single instance of them being amazing. They know when to pop up at the worst times, can be painful and itchy, create texture on the skin and can be the brightest shade of red that draws even more attention to that spot. While overall skin clearing and soothing products like serums and face creams are nice, sometimes you need a product specifically to treat those pesky spots. That is why today’s list includes 10 budget-friendly spot treatments from a variety of patches, powders, and creams to help reduce and/or get rid of any pesky zits that may pop up!
ISOI ACNI DR. SPEEDY PATCH
This light hydrocolloid patch helps to block out dust and bacteria from the treated spot. The Dr. Line from Isoi is targeted to those with sensitive and acne-prone skin, making this a great option for those with extremely sensitive skin. They recommend using these patches alongside the rest of their line for further results!
DR. JART+ CTRL-A TREATMENT INVISIBLE PATCH
Unlike regular patches that can still be seen on the skin, this treatment patch goes on invisibly. It starts off as a liquid then smooths out to create a natural-looking barrier, making it ideal for those looking to wear patches outside the home yet also don’t want it to be noticeable! This patch’s texture even allows you to have makeup applied over it.
REAL BARRIER CONTROL-T SPOT PATCH
This is hands down the best value in this list. Even when this product isn’t on sale, the retail price is $8, which is about 6 cents per patch! This comes in 2 sizes of patches, one larger and one smaller. It contains salicylic acid, tea tree leaf water and cypress leaf extract (one of my favorite ingredients to treat my acne), all of which help to treat the blemish while protecting and preventing any infections.
G9SKIN AC SOLUTION ACNE CLEAR SPOT PATCH
What sets this patch apart from the others on this list is the shape of the patch! Unlike the typical flat patch, this had a raised middle (almost dome-like) with a flat perimeter that latches to the skin better and allows for the patch to absorb even better. Also, each patch attaches to a backing that is split in half, which means you don’t have to peel the patch off with your fingers and be as sanitary as possible. You just peel one of the backings off, align it and place it on the spot, then peel the other half off!
THE FACE SHOP DR. BELMEUR CLARIFYING SPOT PATCH KIT
As an avid fan of the Dr. Belmeur line at The Face Shop, I have used these patches! I really enjoyed them and found them to adhere very nicely. Like other patches, these have a sheen to them which makes them noticeable when worn out. However, I do feel like these help with the healing process of my blemishes and definitely helped to stop me from picking at them!
ALIVE: LAB RED-SPOT LEMON POWDER
As if acne couldn’t be a pain already, the resulting pigmentation can be irritating to deal with. This spot treatment from ALIVE: LAB comes in the form of a powder and can be mixed in with other skincare products to turn them into brightening and vitamin c products! With Lemon extract, this powder helps to reduce scarring and not only brightens the area but also revitalizes the surrounding areas.
SKIN&LAB MEDICICA CLEAR SPOT GEL
Thanks to the Green Cica Complex with 6 Centella Asiatica ingredients (Centella Asiatica leaf extract, Asiaticoside, Asiatic Acid, Madecassoside, Madecassic Acid, and Centella Asiatica extract), this spot treatment is great for those looking to soothe that troubled and irritated spot. Ingredients also include Eggplant fruit extract and Artichoke leaf extract, both of which help with sensitive skin trouble.
SOME BY MI AHA BHA PHA 14 DAYS SUPER MIRACLE SPOT ALL KILL CREAM
Despite the long name, this cream helps to treat troublesome spots with the help of AHA, BHA, PHA, and panthenol. While being gentle on the skin, this cream will help tackle spots in 14 days.
GRUNERSEE TEA TREE 100 ORGANIC SPOT OIL
Nothing is stronger than 100% concentrated tea tree oil! Just take one of the provided cotton swabs, dunk it inside the container, and apply it to the spots as needed. This product is also EWG green and can be used in other areas of the body. The brand does warn that because this is 100% tea tree oil, those with sensitive skin may experience some irritation and advise to do a patch test before using.
MIZON ACENCE TEA TREE TOCK BLEMISH SPOT
This is another gel treatment that creates an invisible film over spots and blemishes. With tea tree oil (15%), Witch Hazel Leaf Water, Propolis, Salicylic Acid, and Lemon extract, not only does this target to calm down irritated blemishes, but it also helps with excess sebum and oils! This also doesn’t contain artificial color, artificial fragrance, talc, and mineral oil.
In the final installment of this series I thought it would be best to end with what I believe to be the most important skincare product, SUNSCREEN! My goal is to provide you all with at least 10 quality options. See you then!
