INGREDIENTS FOR
OILY SKIN

Having oily skin can be frustrating. You cleanse and you hydrate, and yet your face goes from dewy to greasy in no time at all. Makeup slides off midday, leaving you feeling gross. Thankfully, there is a myriad of skincare ingredients that are great for helping tackle excess sebum, many of them easily found in a multitude of products.
Tea Tree
Years before I discovered K-Beauty (or even got into a very regular skincare routine outside of washing my face!), my mother would recommend tea tree products for my acne. Tea tree still has a spot in my skincare routine, as its antiseptic properties help combat excess sebum. Tea tree oil or extract should never be directly put onto the skin – it’s important that it be diluted first, meaning skincare products featuring it as an ingredient make life even easier. If you’re looking for something with tea tree to add to your routine, Dr. Ceuracle (previously Leegeehaam) has an entire skincare line dedicated to tea tree, so you can have it in every step of your routine!
Green Tea
Green tea isn’t just for drinking! Known for its antioxidants, green tea in skincare can also help control sebum. It’s also great for soothing redness, so if your excess oil is causing breakouts, green tea is a two for one in helping to improve your skin. Charcoal
Charcoal is another ingredient that is used to clarify the skin and clear up blemishes. Charcoal wash-off masks are extremely popular for helping to sop up excess oil. However, some may find charcoal to be drying. If that’s the case for you, use it sparingly to avoid creating excess sebum production. One of the most popular K-Beauty wash off masks is the Innisfree Pore Clearing Clay Mask, starring volcanic charcoal from Jeju Island.
BHA
When looking for an exfoliant to help with oil control, look no further than BHA. Beta Hydroxy Acid, or more commonly known as salicylic acid, is oil soluble – meaning it can cut through the excess oil on your skin to reach the surface and do its job. BHA is great for blemish-prone skin and for making pores appear smaller – things common to those of us with oily skin. If you’re looking for a product to start with, Cosrx Natural BHA Skin Returning A-Sol is a gentle exfoliant that uses BHA, and has the added bonus of tea tree oil as an ingredient! Cosrx also has their BHA Blackhead Power Liquid if you’re looking for something more heavy-duty.

② celimax Jiwoogae Heartleaf BHA Peeling Pad 60pcs

Incorporating one (or more!) of these ingredients into your skincare routine can help keep excess sebum in check. There are tons of options available, one is bound to work for you!
