SKIN SHINING LIKE ✨GOLD✨
24K GOLD ESSENCE REVIEW
KAYLA ALLARD on APRIL 28, 2020
“Wait, this has GOLD?!”, my reaction when I first saw the WellDerma G Plus Moisturizing 24k Gold Essence was of pure shock. I was super intrigued, not only from how aesthetically pleasing it looked but also because IT HAD GOLD! However, did the gold make any real difference to my skin? Continue reading to understand my experience.
There are 3 key points to this essence. The first is what the brand calls “Gold Therapy” which promises to provide an “at-home” esthetic experience from deep nourishment to the skin from the ultra-thin gold leaf. The second key point is “Skin Treatment”, which targets elasticity to help smooth and firm the skin. The last key point is “Skin Tone Improvement” and it relies on the gold ingredient to help with whitening, brightening and reviving dull skin.
Firstly, let me just gush about how beautiful this essence is! The gold flecks stand out a lot (they weren’t stingy with the gold) and it’s simply pretty to look at!
As a skincare product I am a bit torn. I like this product and love the concept and idea. It provides a good level of hydration that’s not the best but just good enough. It’s also great to layer on top of other products. I also like the scent of this essence a lot. I cannot pinpoint to one specific scent, but it smells similar to aloe and other hydrating products. It might throw off consumers with sensitivity to strong scents as it’s very present and doesn’t wear off with wear.
One of my issues with this essence is the gold leaves themselves. When applying I feel the gold leafs and specks, so at times it feels like my face is getting scratched. The gold flecks also don’t disappear quickly and remain on my skin longer than I would like. To be honest, I’m unsure whether they actually disperse across and melt into my skin, or if by tossing and turning on my pillow they brush them off. Although I have to admit that my face shines in the light, which is a nice plus!
My last conflict with this essence is that I don’t see any real benefit from it’s long-term use. I think the claims and reviews created high expectations and perhaps that’s where I went wrong, which influenced my experience to be not as positive.
Despite all that though, I probably will continue to use it here and there. The package is only 30ml after all, so I’m confident that I can finish this product quickly. Would I buy it personally? Honestly and simply, no.
