I purchased the cool palette thinking it would be perfect for my pale and cool-neutral skin tone. However, I found these colors to be too warm. I'm a fan of natural contouring for every day, and the lightest contour shade in this palette is far too warm and yellow for my skin which is odd, seeing as Etude Hose claims it has less yellow pigment. I feel like I have to dig into the pan to pick up any color on my brush--the same goes with the highlighting shade which is too dark for my skin and both chunky and chalky to boot. The darker tone is ashier and easier to pick up although way too dark and patchy if I'm not careful to use sparingly and blend out.
For reference, my skin tone is very fair. MAC foundations are too dark for my skin. Some foundations I've used are:
--Lancome's Teinte Idole in "90 Ivoire N"
--Kat Von D's Lock-It Foundation in "Light 41 Neutral"
--Make Up Forever's Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation in "Y205 Alabaster"
Overall, I'm kind of disappointed with this product. I can forgive the issue with color and tone--that's just the gamble that comes with buying things online without swatching them. But the formula is unforgivable. The light contour and highlighter are chalky and hard. They move my foundation around while blending and are difficult to pick up with my brush (even when using my fingers with the highlighter, which is just sad). Surprisingly, I'm a huge fan of Too Cool for School's "Art Class by Rodin" contour compact which is slightly warmer in tone. The Rodin palette is far easier to blend and has a buildable formula, not at all patchy, and doesn't disturb the makeup underneath.
The only positive? It's better than nothing.
